At Eco Energy Consultants, our mission is defined by our name. Eco is an abbreviation for the word ecology, “the system of relationships between living things and with their environment”. That is the essence of what we do. We prescribe the energy-related features of a home to create a safe, comfortable, and efficient environment for its residents to enjoy and thrive for years to come. Our goal is to provide energy saving provisions through experience, professionalism, and guidance.
Eco Energy Consultants is a certified Home Energy Rating System (HERS) company recognized by Residential Energy Services Network (RESNET), Energy Star & International Energy Code Council (IECC). Our lead HERS Rater, Michael Caruso, has been servicing the residential construction industry on Long Island for the last four years. Graduating from Suffolk County Community College with an associate degree in applied science & a certificate in HVAC, Michael began his career servicing and installing HVAC equipment but was always fascinated by the whole picture of residential construction. After a few seasons working as a HVAC technician, Michael was introduced to the energy efficiency and HERS Rating industry. Over his career, Michael has certified 500 + HERS Ratings, received the Energy Star Certified HERS Rater designation. In addition, Michael has been certified by the IECC as a Residential Energy Certified Plans Examiner. RESNET and IECC recognize HERS Raters that acquire the Residential Energy Certified Plans Examiner designation as Code Compliance Specialists.
A HERS Rating can be compared to a miles per gallon (MPG) sticker for a vehicle. This gives a builder, home buyer or homeowner insight on how the home performs when it comes to energy efficiency. HERS Ratings are measured by the homes minimum rated features. These features being insulation, windows, lighting, appliances, HVAC, water heating, mechanical ventilation, infiltration, duct leakage, and photovoltaics.
